About Us

In 1974, brothers Russ and Will Almendinger, together with Will's brother in-in-law, Charlie Edling, incorporated PQT Company (Premium Quality Trees) and planted their first field of Christmas trees right here in Stacy, Minnesota. Throughout the 1980s, the partners continued to expand their operation and opened their first two "cut-your-own" farms – the Stacy Tree Farm in Stacy, and the Rum River Tree Farm in Oak Grove. A few years later, they added a third farm, Hampton Hills, located in the southeast metro near Cannon Falls.

After Russ's retirement in the 1990s, he and his family continued to run the Stacy Tree Farm until 2022, when it was purchased by PQT Company, keeping it in the family fold. Today, PQT Company continues to run three cut-your-own farms (Stacy, Rum River, and Hampton Hills), as well as several metro Christmas tree lots, and a full-service nursery and landscaping company located at its headquarters in Oak Grove.
